I really really had fun and like this game and is in my fave DMC game 3 being my all time favorite it was fun and i knew it didnt replaced the OG games and i see it as an AU. I liked it when I played it and the series as a whole isnt too deep and silly as is the reboot.

I played this game as a kid and then played dmc 3 and the character was like a wild kid and i never olaye dit again😂 i respected dante as being bad ass charismatic saying less eith sombre music in ghe background . Gave it a mystical feel. Then you have all these gsmers haying this game😂 this game was ghe bomb. And it has some crazy.combos.that are hidden. Plus yhe story and stuff u collect the music is captivating

When my older brother was playing the dmc series I asked why did you skip 2? He said it is horrible and that there is no dmc 2. I didn't believe him. Now after finishing dmc 1 before making the choice to play dmc 2 or not I watch this and..........I'm gonna play 3 instead.

I wish they would make a physical joustus game. Also, I'd say King of Cards and Spectre of Torment are tied for me, because I like King Knights difficulty and I like the character interactions, but Spectre Knight has some banger gameplay

I always liked this game more than the original ones lol maybe it’s the nostalgia of a when I was in high school and the fact that I never played the original ones before and this was the game that introduced me to other hack and slash games like god of war as well lol but I never understood the hate for it I always thought it was cool for as weird as that sounds 😂

My major issue with the game then and now is characterization more than story writing. Vergil felt like outright character assassination when Vergil shot a pregnant woman/demon. I also felt disappointed they went the rival route. The twins as allies was a fun change and I was sad it was tossed out last minute for a Vergil fight.

smt 3 nocturne uses dmc 1 dante's personality and dmc2's look it really shows how much people dont like dmc2 if its the most recent game and the collab uses his dmc1 personality

the style announcer is a good idea so good they put it in dmc 5 like vergil's clone or giving nero a hook and training mode the concept art unlocks honestly make me crave this games potential angel trigger could've done some jak 3 stuff...

Did you know when you are fighting Arkham with Virgil, you can two player him with a friend controlling Virgil? It was like that in the original PS2 version and has been brought along to the PS4 too!!

I think the reason why the will skull/locket are strong is intentional. Shovel knight is supposed to be a modernized version of mega man that is meant to be more approachable to new players. About the mobile gear, you don't get it until fairly late in the game, and it doesn't trivialize some platforming challenges such as those involving wide chasms without a lot of ground. Designing a game really is a balancing act. You can't please everyone which is why some features (i.e., easier difficulty) are favored over the enjoyment of a much smaller number of players. This is why games like the Kirby series are very popular, because Kirby is a platformer without platforming (cuz you can fly indefinitely).

I loved the DMC reboot, even at the time it was released. It's a misunderstood game.. and I've played this series since the first game was released at the time. The entire point was to do a radically different take on Devil May Cry series, otherwise it would just be Ninja Theory trying to copy Capcom which would have been boring. The game had a lot of creative ideas and I enjoyed playing through it. The action is nice and crunchy, probably their best when compared to Heavenly Sword and Enslaved.

DMC2 is no longer canon since it ends with dante going to hell to fight demons DMC5 does it much better. Reason why people like DMC2 over DmC:Devil May Cry. Is because while DMC2 was just a bad entry, the idiotic name reboot was an active effort to ruin the IP entirely. I also assume DMC 3 was a prequel because of how DMC 2 ended and not because Hideaki thought Dante needed an origin. It was going to be difficult to make a sequel for DMC2 since it ignored all the cool things from DMC1 and ended with dante going to hell. So prequel that allowed the use of Vergil and all the cool plot elements from the first game was an easier choice. Now later down the lane Hideaki has effectively erased DMC2 from the timeline dante isnt in hell and Vergil is back by DMC 5.

This game is very special. That was the first Game I played on my pc. I wonder when will they release the remastered version of it.

Between showing and then dismissing context, basically saying he loves the story but not screaming it because he doesn’t want to admit he has the unpopular opinion compared to everyone at release. DmC was the first game I played. I wanted to get into the series and it’s the only one I had already since my dad got it a while back. Even then, I didn’t like the story or the lore, but the gameplay was always fantastic. Never finished it because the story felt so bland and basic.

Ironic part about this game is that he actually made tons of things before the original: - corrupted vergil during story mode, cause in originals we got him only with DMC5 and not just as an alternative costume; - Dante's past, his house, flashbacks. Again, the OG shown with 5. People can dislike characters, but in this reboot they have to admit that character development was a thing: - Dante matures A LOT. He starts doesn't giving importance to people but in the end becomes the Guardian of humanity, and quarrels tons of time with vergil about freedome. And that's thanks to Kat! This was a thing only in DMC3 and a little with 1, but 2-4 were considered crap in character development even by fans. 5 was weird and changed vergil behavior and transformed him in vegeta. People should give the right credit to the reboot

The thing that breaks DmC's story for me, is the addition of angels to both the lore of the franchise, and the twin's identities. It disconnects them for the ideas of humanity the original series and this game (To an extend) had going for. That's why the original characters feel more human in comparison. They entire mainline series is about characters responding to trauma in different ways, some good, others bad, and that stems from their human legacy and heritage, that grounds them and their emotions into this world. DmC Dante and Vergil lack this, and instead they simply are another example of the "Chosen one" trope done badly.

Man i remember being so mad when this game was revealed, i never bought it and refused to even watch reviews, nowadays i realize it's not a bad game. Capcom should have made this a new IP or at least told Ninja Theory to be polite to the fans.

I found the level design, freedom and variety of movement, visual presentation and OST to be much better in DmC. Yes, there were already 4 games that laid down the ground rules for what the series is and isn't about, but I found the deviation refreshingly re-playable and fun. Something about controling Dante in DmC feels much more entertaining than the somewhat wooden movements you're being presented in say, DMC4. And then there is "Hey Bob, put a spin on this!".

Agree with everything you said in the video except when at 47:00 you say that its the peak of western character action games. That crown belongs to God of War 3 imo. Which btw you should absolutely try and maybe make a few videos on since the God of War series like the DMC series has gone through quite a bit of change and reinvention through the years.Would make for interesting videos I bet :)

36:28 - 36:57 While you are entitled to your opinion, I disagree with you on the "color coated enemies". I'm just gonna say this. Aside from the sword weapon and Ifrit, I hated every single close range weapon in the canon DMC games. I don't know why. I just can't get use to them compared to the sword weapon. However, the "color coated enemies" helps to practice with certain weapons. The blue enemies with angel weapons and red enemies with the demon weapons. To me, this is good practice on each type of weapon and to focus on using one weapon, to get to know how to use it and what combos you can practice. It made me love the Arbiter and Osiris weapons even more. That's why I loved the gameplay in this game more than I like the others.

IMO, Ninja Theory's DmC was a necessary evil. I'm just gonna say this but I found DMC4 to be annoying. DOn't get me wrong. It's a fun game but you could tell that Capcom and the game director, Hideaki Itsuno had problems with the game. They obviously couldn't think of a new story and went with the "Dante is a bad guy" scenario. I didn't even believe that and I bet you didn't either. And Capcom wanted to rush DMC4 out and told the director to just make Dante play Nero missions backwards to save time. The director obviously hated that Capcom took control and he had new level plans with Dante but couldn't do it. And that's why he, as supervising director, went with Ninja Theory to make DmC and had the creative power. But of course, the negativity came, and Capcom had to go back to Itsuno, who planned to do DmC2, said do DMC5 instead and let him do whatever he wants.

I am of the camp that DmC is a fairly solid game as its own thing, but bad as a DMC game. Change the title, change the name, you have an above average hack-and-slash. The story has some... oddities, but the gameplay would have been enough for this game to stand above at least Heavenly Sword. I actually thought the 2010 version of DmC would have been a super interesting take on the series and i was open to it, even though i didnt like that it was pushed as a reboot. At the very end, Dante still seemed to show the cockiness that we liked about Dante. There is something about the human world having a really ugly side is appealing to me and DMC leaves the ugliness in isolated incidents. But i have to disagree so much that the behavior of Tameem and his Capcom side piece don't make the game worse. Even if you are not put off by their needless dickishness directed at fans, the context of how they looked down on the franchise and fans puts an air of maliciousness about the game. "Not in a million years" bit comes off more like "stuff old fans like is gone and they can fuck off" instead of a cheeky joke/reference. Design and story changes come off as "DMC was lame Japanesey shit but we made into real art," instead of just being a different take on the series. And these are not conclusions i made up in my head. Tameem does feel that Japanese media has an inherent uncoolness (based on what he said about Bayonetta being "too japanesey.") He claimed that they were trying to elevate DMC's story to be worthy of cinema/literature. Also, Capcom pushing for DmC to be different doesnt absolve Tameem of his behavior. Being douchebags was a joint business venture.
